What is Hair Restoration?

Surgical hair restoration is performed by transplanting hair follicles from one area of the scalp to the area where hair loss has occurred. This procedure can be performed using techniques such as Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) or Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

Non-surgical hair restoration methods can be done using hair restoration devices such as minoxidil and finasteride medications, laser combs, and hair extension helmets. These methods are designed to promote hair growth and improve the health of the scalp and hair follicles.

How is Hair Restoration done?

Hair transplant restoration is done as follows:

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT): Also known as the strip method, FUT involves taking a strip of scalp from the area where hair is present and transplanting it to the area of hair loss. The hair follicles are then examined under a microscope and planted in small incisions made in the recipient area.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): This method involves using a small punch tool to individually extract hairs from the back of the scalp and transplanting them to the area of hair loss. The incisions made in the recipient area are generally smaller and less noticeable than those made with FUT.

Non-surgical hair restoration methods include:

• Medications: Minoxidil and finasteride are topical or oral medications used to improve the health of the scalp and promote hair growth.
• Laser therapy: Low-level laser therapy devices such as laser combs and helmets can be used to promote hair growth by increasing blood flow and oxygenation to hair follicles.
• Scalp micropigmentation: A cosmetic treatment method that uses small pigment injections to simulate a stubble look on the scalp. It can be used to create a fuller hair appearance or to hide the appearance of hair loss.
